What are the best discs i need to add to my disc golf collection?
Im an amateur disc golfer and i love it. I'm just wondering what you guys think are the best discs. I currently throw a champion monster for my drives and an aerobie arrow for my putt and approach.
What do you guys like that is comparable to the champion monster?? And what about your favorite putter?
If you're throwing a Champion Monster I'm guessing you throw sidearm. That disc is not the easiest thing to throw backhanded. The question to me really should be more about what the best discs are for you to throw more than just the best discs in general. One person may rant and rave about the Roadrunner, but if you go to sidearm that it probably will not come even close to do what you were hoping it to do - especially in comparison to a Monster.
If you want a faster disc and don't mind the fat rim, I would give any of these discs a try: from Innova: Destroyer, XCaliber, Boss; from Discraft: Nuke, Predator. Those would be great discs for a sidearm thrower to try out. I agree with the other comment that a Wraith is an excellent disc as well, but it is not going to hyzer/curve back as strongly as your Monster would. It's a great disc if you want to backhand as well though. The Wraith is probably one of the steadiest sellers in my store.
As far as putters, I go with Gateway plastic. I prefer the Voodoo, but their Wizard is by far their most popular putter. The Wizard has a very similar mold to Innova's KC Pro Aviar and Star Aviar Driver. It's also very similar to Discraft's Focus. Putters really come down to a matter of feel. Most of them are designed to be straight fliers, so your opinion becomes based more off of how the disc feels as opposed to strictly flight characteristics. You can never go wrong with an Innova Aviar, a Discraft Challenger, or a Gateway Wizard. Those are great putters to try out.
