The putting stroke is one of the most important strokes if not the most important stroke when playing golf. So naturally if you want to improve your golf you need to improve your putting.

One way to improve your putting is to place the ball in the correct position at address to ensure that you strike the ball at the optimum point with the sweet spot of the putter in the intended direction. Ball position is as important in the putting stroke as it is in the full swing.

The best position of the golf ball in the putting stroke is slightly forward of the center of your stance. The reason the ball should be positioned slightly forward is so that you place an ascending blow when the putter-face meets the ball. This imparts good forward role on your putts and and gives them the best chance of reaching the hole.

The ball should also be placed directly under your eyes at address so that you have the best perspective of the line from the ball to the hole. This will greatly improve your putting score as you will be able to line your putts up better and have more chance of sinking them.

A simple drill to ensure the ball is placed under your eyes when you putt is the following.

Adopt a comfortable putting stance and then drop the ball from the bridge of your nose. The place where the ball lands is the perfect ball position for you.

If you're throwing a Champion Monster I'm guessing you throw sidearm. That disc is not the easiest thing to throw backhanded. The question to me really should be more about what the best discs are for you to throw more than just the best discs in general. One person may rant and rave about the Roadrunner, but if you go to sidearm that it probably will not come even close to do what you were hoping it to do - especially in comparison to a Monster.

If you want a faster disc and don't mind the fat rim, I would give any of these discs a try: from Innova: Destroyer, XCaliber, Boss; from Discraft: Nuke, Predator. Those would be great discs for a sidearm thrower to try out. I agree with the other comment that a Wraith is an excellent disc as well, but it is not going to hyzer/curve back as strongly as your Monster would. It's a great disc if you want to backhand as well though. The Wraith is probably one of the steadiest sellers in my store.

As far as putters, I go with Gateway plastic. I prefer the Voodoo, but their Wizard is by far their most popular putter. The Wizard has a very similar mold to Innova's KC Pro Aviar and Star Aviar Driver. It's also very similar to Discraft's Focus. Putters really come down to a matter of feel. Most of them are designed to be straight fliers, so your opinion becomes based more off of how the disc feels as opposed to strictly flight characteristics. You can never go wrong with an Innova Aviar, a Discraft Challenger, or a Gateway Wizard. Those are great putters to try out.

The difference is in the shape of the putter head. A mallet head putter is an elongated putter(mallet shaped/semi-circle) with a lot of mass behind the ball. A blade putter is more of a slender, bar shaped putter head that has a consistent thickness from the toe of the putter to the heel of the putter. Neither is better than the other, it's a matter of preference.

Yes, you should hit the 3 wood further. 3 woods have a loft of around 15 degrees, with some as low as 13 degrees. If you're hitting a 20 degree club 180-190 then you have some decent clubhead speed which will let you swing a 3 wood, although I would NOT go under 15 degrees. Lower lofted fairway clubs require more clubhead speed in order to get the ball to fly well.

With all of that said, 3 woods are harder to hit than higher lofted clubs, such as your hybrid club. The shaft is longer and it is tougher to make center face contact. If you're a high handicap player you might not benefit from the club. Best to demo some three woods on a range or store simulator before making a choice. At the demo you can figure out what club works best. With your clubhead speed a regular flex shaft would be appropriate.

Offhand, I'd say that you can't just by bouncing the ball against it.
Because any bounce off the face of putter is going to be oriented by the physical face of the putter, which has no bearing upon the actual center of gravity.

I cannot see how the ball bouncing off the putter face would determine center of gravity. Center of gravity would more be found by hanging putter in open hand, letting handle hang down as it normall would, then balance club with couple fingers on club face. Adjust club so that it will eventually balance easily. That shows center of gravity of the whole club, obviously including the whole handle.
But I"m sure you're referring to merely the club face.

I still can't see how bouncing the ball off the clubface would show the club face's center of gravity, because each time the ball bounces off the face, it's travel and distance depends upon where the club face is oriented and the strength of the bounce.

But then I'm not a physicist, so maybe there's something I'm missing.

Being able to read greens correctly is a very important part of improving your game. There are many different factors that you need to consider before putting the ball. So here are a couple of steps you need to do to help you read the greens correctly.

The best way to deal with sloping greens and breaking putts is to treat every putt as if it is perfectly straight. Now you might be wondering what on earth I am talking about, but it is actually quite simple and this is how it works:

Step 1: Firstly you have to identify how much a particular putt is going to break. Let's say that that this putt is going to break two feet or 60 centimetres from the right. The hole itself now ceases to be your target. You now have a new target that is 2 feet or 60 centimetres to the right of the actual hole. So imagine that the hole has moved two feet to the right and putt the ball as if it is a straight putt.

Step 2: When going through your practice routine, aim the putter face and align your body as if you were putting the ball two feet to the right of the hole. You should focus on the imaginary hole two feet to the right of the actual hole.

Step 3: Now hit your putt straight to the imaginary hole two feet to the right of the actual hole and let the slope of the green take care of the rest.

The main reason for using this approach to putting on a sloped green is that you are more likely to make a pure solid putting stroke when putting the ball straight than when you are trying to guide the ball on a breaking putt. I hope this helps you to improve your putting.
