Windows 7 will automatically find and install 99% of any drivers your computer needs. However if you have no internet connection yet then it wont be able to. Im going to assume you cant connect to the internet because you havent installed a wireless card driver yet. My recommendation is to plug your laptop into your internet router using a regular network cable. More than likely windows will be able to access the internet and download any drivers/updates it needs. If this isnt working then use your second computer to download the drivers, either burn them to a disk or put them on a jump drive and copy them to your laptop.

Any kayak that claims to do both whitewater and touring is not going to do both well. Touring boats are designed to go fast and straight. Whitewater kayaks are designed for maneuverability. The ideal thing is to get one kayak for touring _and_ one kayak for whtiewater. If you can't do that, look for a kayak that will satisfy your needs most of the time and then rent or borrow when you need something else.

As for the kayaks your considering, it might be possible to camp out of the Everest, but you'll have to pack lightly. Maybe you can pack a tent (or maybe just a bivy sack). The food and kitchen items you pack would have to be very simple, as well as any extra clothing. Since you say touring with only occasional whitewater, I probably wouldn't recommend it.

As for the fusion, that might work, but again it won't be perfect. It's only about 10 feet long, which isn't very big for touring. If you're looking at doing a lot of multi-day trips, you'll probably want a longer, faster boat (with the bonus that it holds more gear). Don't worry about the boat "only" handling Class III rapids. If you're only doing whitewater occasionally, Class III will keep you busy for a long time.

Who thought Puerto Vallarta does not have its share of sports? The Canto Del Sol Resort and Tennis Club, once again played host to the ITF Futures professional tennis tournament which was held here in Puerto Vallarta for the second successive year.

As the year before, the ITF (International Federation of Tennis) once again, had a five tournament swing through the beautiful Mexico. The reward for the winners was $10,000 USD and it drew Mexican professionals as well as players from the United States. Players from Italy, Ecuador, Australia, New Zealand, Dominican Republic, Canada, Guatemala, Switzerland and South Africa were also the confirmed contestants in the core draw of 32.

A total number of 18 players were allotted direct entries in addition to 8 wild card entries; out of which, some were given to the professionals of Puerto Vallarta. The hard court surface was used to play on, for this tournament. Great things were expected from Luigi D'Agord of Italy who had made it to the semifinals in the last year tournament. Another player, D'Agord also made it to the semi finals, last year but was beaten by the final winner, Marinko Matosevic. Marinko Matosevic, according to his, Mexican run, the previous year, had moved on to the tournaments with bigger winnings. Another seed is, Cesar Ramirez, a 19 year old Mexican who shows great promise as a player and is also termed as the "youngster in the Mexican pro ranks."

The battle began on the 9th of May, with qualifying slots available. 8 players out of, about 64 began playing, in order to be a part of the tournament. This battle was wrapped up on May 10th. Many of the Puerto Vallarta professionals qualified for this energetic tournament. There were about 64 players. In the two day qualification it took three successive victories over the exhausting span of two days to attain the main draw. However, the turn out was about 32 qualifying players.

The players that participated from Mexico for the main draw were Cesar Ramirez, Carlos Palencia, who had previously won a tournament in Puerto Vallarta and the well-liked Juan Manuel Elizondo. Manuel Elizondo was a finalist in the earlier three tournaments that were played in Puerto Vallarta and he has also won two pro tournaments. Also three other national players were a part of this tournament for the first time.

The game started early in the morning and finished late in the evenings. Also a doubles component of 16 teams was a part of this magnificent tournament. The schedule of these matches hopefully became less taxing as the players reached the quarterfinals, because only the best reached the semi finals.

All the interested spectators were invited since there was charge for the public. The visitors and the sport lovers got their sport's gear on and had a lot of fun at the competition!

There are literally thousands of articles on the web that outline various methods of caring for your knives.  In this article, I will break it down to the simplest terms – using the KISS principle "Keep It Simple Stupid" to describe how to ensure your favorite knife lasts you many years.  The information in this article is valid for all types of pocketknives, and can be used to care for all knives.

Whether you have one pocketknife or a huge collection of quality knives, including the full range of pocketknives, folding knives, fixed blade knives and pulti-purpose tools, you must maintain and care for them or they will deteriorate.  I remember once when I pulled my favorite knife out of the leather sheath for the first time in a year, it was all stained and the blade was covered with rust. 

Maybe you just gave your son or daughter their first pocketknife and want to teach them how to care for it.  No matter if you are a hunter, hiker, camper, or wilderness backpacker, you know that a quality pocketknife is a valuable tool and, if properly cared for it will last you may years.

There are many brands of pocketknives and just as many levels of quality with varying degrees of corrosion resistance – suffice it to say knives made with lower quality metals will require somewhat more care to ensure they stay corrosion-free.  BUT for the purposes of this article, the prudent level of care described below should keep any knife in good working order.

HERE ARE SOME SIMPLE TIPS TO CARING FOR YOUR POCKETKNIVES

1.  USE YOUR POCKETKNIFE PROPERLY – Remember a knife is not a screwdriver and a screwdriver is not a knife:  Use your knife properly, cut only stuff your knife was made to cut – avoid cutting cardboard or paper and never use a cutting board made of glass, granite, or other hard substances.  And, of course, (but many people ignore this one) don't use your pocketknife as a screwdriver, chisel or a pry-bar.

2.  STORING YOUR POCKETKNIFE – When not in use wipe your pocketknife lightly with oil ( a good silicone spray lubricant can also be used) and store it in a dry place. NEVER store your knife in its sheath – especially a leather sheath, as leather tends to hold moisture and can cause corrosion.

3.  CLEANING AND OILING – Many normal uses for your knife such as pealing citrus fruit, cleaning fish or skinning game can leave corrosive residues on your knife. After using your knife, always clean the entire knife with mild soapy water.  Then dry it thoroughly and apply a liberal coating of clean oil before putting it into storage.  Finally, if you don't use the knife frequently, take it out 3-4 time a year to inspect it for corrosion, and apply a new coat of oil.  These actions will ensure a long life for your knife.

4.  SHARPENING – Always keep your pocketknives sharp.  A sharp knife is more efficient and easy to use.  There are a number of different styles of knife sharpeners – the three primary styles are sharpening stones, diamond sharpening sticks, and ceramic "crock sticks."  All of these have their pros- and cons- but they all can sharpen knives effectively.  When sharpening your pocketknife, I recommend you sharpen to the original angles of the blade.  Just follow the instructions that came with the sharpener.  Remember there is no need to grind the knife away - go slowly and check progress after every few strokes and stop when you have reached the desired sharpness.  When done, don't forget to wipe the blade clean and apply a light coat of oil or silicone protectant.

IN CONCLUSION – Take good care of your pocketknives and they will last for many years. 

When not in use, remove your knife from the sheath and store in a dry environment

You can embrace winter and learn to ride!

Snowboard: Who Me?

Twenty- five years ago, snowboarders at ski resorts were conspicuous by their absence.  In fact, snowboarding was forbidden at resorts such as Aspen Colorado, Taos, New Mexico, Deer Valley, Alta, Utah and Mad River Glen, Vermont.  Times have certainly changed. While snowboarding was once in the exclusive domain of males under age 25, even baby boomers of both genders are embracing the sport. Many have found that it is easier on the knees. Others welcome the chance to wear a pair of soft and comfortable boots, as opposed to the stiff boots worn for alpine skiing.

 Today, most resorts have eliminated their ban on snowboarding, and there are only few areas where riding is prohibited. Initially, snowboarding may be harder to learn than skiing. However, once you learn the basics, many find that the learning curve is much shorter than the learning curve of alpine skiing.

A Brief History of Snowboarding

While many people credit Jake Burton with the invention of the snowboard, its history actually began in 1965. During this year, a chemical gas engineer by the name of Sherman Poppen decided that it would be fun to tie two skis together and put a rope at the end. His invention was inspired by surfing and skateboarding. Poppen called his new toy a "snurfer." Poppen's daughters adored their new play thing. Soon, their friends decided that they too wanted this new 'snow toy,' which was much cooler than a sled. Poppen decided to sell his idea to a manufacturer. By 1966, over half a million snurfers were sold in the United States.

While the snurfer was usually regarded as children's toy, Poppen organized snurfing competitions across the country. One day, a man named Jake Burton attended one of these events.  He immediately fell in love with the sport, and decided to expand on its possibilities. Thus, when he moved to Londonderry, Vermont in 1977, he created the first laminated, hardwood board. Burton improved on the snurfer by adding bindings, which made a huge difference in safety and efficiency. In fact the improvements were so significant, that when Burton entered another snurfing competition, he inspired the envy of his fellow competitors when he beat them by a long shot. The rest is history. In 1994, after a long fight, snowboarding was finally accepted as an Olympic sport.

Snowboarding: the Ultimate Balance Sport

Many people are concerned that they might not be in good enough shape to learn to ride. While being fit certainly helps, snowboarding is more about dynamic balance and less about brute strength.  To prepare for your snowboarding lesson, spend time on a balance board, a stability ball or a bosu.  You can combine snowboard-specific strength by performing squats and lunges on any type of balance device, and train your core muscles by performing crunches on a stability ball.

Dress for Snowboard Success

How much enjoy snowboarding is directly dependent on your ability to stay warm. You should choose snowboard clothing that can wick moisture, supply warmth and allow for freedom of movement. The layering approach can accomplish all of this.

Begin with a pair of long thermal underwear and a long thermal undershirt. Fabrics should be synthetic. Never use cotton! It will store moisture, instead of wicking it. Stored moisture makes you feel wet and feeling wet makes you cold. Polyester or polypropylene materials are the best materials for snowboard underwear.

Your next layer of clothing is responsible for insulation.  A fleece turtleneck works best. In extremely cold weather, you will want to wear a pullover over the turtleneck. The outer layer of snowboard clothing is the most challenging, because it needs to be waterproof, windproof and breathable. It also needs to be big enough to fit over your base and insulating layers. Since snowboarding might take more upper-body motion than skiing, snowboard jackets tend to be a somewhat baggier.

Snowboard pants should also be composed of waterproof, breathable and windproof materials. Be warned!  Many snowboarding movements might cause your pants to shift while riding. Avoid embarrassment, and look for pants with belt loops. You might also want to consider snowboard pants with padding around the knee and butt, which will make life more comfortable when you are kneeling or sitting on the slope.

Keeping your hands nice and toasty will help the rest of your body nice and warm. Snowboarders are lucky. Since they do not use ski poles, they can wear mittens, which are often warmer than gloves. A helmet will keep your head warm and safe, and goggles will protect your eyes from harmful UV rays.

Snowboarding Stance

Snowboarders ride in either of two stances; goofy or regular. If you ride with your right foot forward, you are goofy, and if you ride with your left foot forward, you are regular.  Goofy or regular snowboard stance has nothing to do with whether you are right-handed or left-handed. While there are a variety of ways to establish whether you have a goofy or regular stance, the easiest is to observe which foot you use first when climbing stairs and taking a step forwards.

Learning to Ride

Learning to snowboard requires a sense of humor.  You will probably fall, but if you relax, you won't get hurt. Laugh at your wipe-outs and applaud your accomplishments. Have fun!
