What's the best way to travel with golf clubs?
I'm going to have one day of golf while in CA. Is it better to rent clubs out there or bring my own? What things should I think about, be cautious about, when traveling with clubs?
I travel with my clubs all of the time - its just having another checked luggage, that's all. Just make sure that you buy a nice travel bag for your clubs, with wheels - you wouldn't want to have your clubs get damaged. The only thing different is you usually don't pick up the clubs on the luggage turnstile - there is usually an over-sized baggage area and that is where the golf clubs go.
Do you consider yourself an avid golfer? Are you the type of person that will do anything to get a round of golf in no matter where you are or how long it is going to take? If so, you are probably the type of person that wants to play the best courses possible. In order to do so, it is up to you to plan ahead and do everything you can to get those great tee times.

As a traveling golfer, you are not going to check out a mediocre course. This is not appealing and is not going to be something worth talking about when you return home. But if you have any intention of playing the prime courses, it is vital you schedule in advance to book great tee times.
Not only do you want to research tee times, but take the time to research the different options you have to choose from. Few places have just one golf course to look at. A majority of the time there will be several courses within driving range of where you will be. Take the time to look at which course you want to play and what you can expect to get out of the course.
The internet is filled with different web sites that can provide you with all of the details you need. You can look up what courses are nearby where you will be, what features each course has to offer, how much it will put a damper in your wallet, as well as reviews from previous golfers. On these same web sites you will then be able to book great tee times so you are guaranteed to have a spot when you arrive.
Traveling golfers and avid golfers have a different mindset than the average player. It is not something you may do from time to time to relieve stress. It is a hobby that keeps you entertained. It is something you are willing to push other things aside for. If this is the type of golfer you are, make sure you take the time to plan ahead and research so you land on the perfect course with great tee times.
