This technique is used by the attacker as he digs in. From a standard outside grip, the attacker bends backwards and swings his opponent in the direction of that outside gripping hand. What is it called?
This is called an Osakate or backward twisting overarm throw.
Osakate (backward twisting overarm throw) - This technique would most commonly be seen at the edge, used by the attacker as he digs in. From a deep, standard outside grip, the attacker will bend backwards and swing his opponent around and out in the direction of that outside gripping hand. Osakate is one of the 12 techniques added in the 2001 winning technique list expansion.

The length of the bat
Pick up a bat that is long enough to come up to your waste from its tip on the ground as you stand straight.
Weight of the bat
The weight of any object, or, for that matter a softball bat, in fact, depends upon the strength of the individual who uses it. Therefore, a thumb rule to consider the weight of the softball bat is to swing it. If you can swing the bat with speed using both the hands comfortably without feeling any strain, you can choose that bat. It does not matter if the ball is heavy or light. Moreover, you should not be swayed over by the craftsmanship, material or the price of the bat. The bat should be light enough for you as it is easy to swing a light bat and gain a better distance.
Apart from this, the barrel size of the bat, its taper and grips should also be considered as important factors while choosing a softball bat.
Barrel
The top part of the bat is called barrel. A barrels size consists of its length and diameter. A standard barrel of a softball bat is 2.3/4 inch in diameter. It is again a matter of choice for a player whether he likes a longer or a smaller barrel bat.
Taper
A taper of the softball bat is the diameter of its handle. Standard bats have a taper of 31/32 of an inch. The taper can, however, be smaller or larger depending upon the weight of the bat. While some players like a narrow taper so that they can move their writs around more easily and quickly while swinging the bat, there are others who prefer larger taper.
Grip
Grip means the covering on the handle of the bat. Some aluminium bats have leather or synthetic covering while others have a rubber covering. While leather or synthetic covering gives a stickier feel ensuring a firmer grip, a rubber covering absorbs the shocks from hits more easily.
